Target-Sponsored ArtBeat Going Strong in Henderson's Water Street District

It's been a minute since I've had a chance to post. Pardon the silence. It's not for lack of things going on. Quite the contrary. Check out the photos below from Susanne Reese, co-owner of Henderson's Plaza Gallery and founder of the Water Street District Third Thursday's Arts Walk. Two weeks of ArtBeat during the month of June represented here and in the following post. More to come. Mark your calendars for September 4th and 18th and October 9th and 23rd. 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm. WHAT IS ART? WHAT ART IS.

It can pretty much be whatever we want it to. It can come from within. It can come from our surroundings. It can come from just about anywhere.

How do we define it? How do we interpret it? How do we connect with it? Art is subjective and personal and ever-changing, so the answer to these questions is pretty much up to us.

It can move us. It can inspire us. It can perplex and entertain us. It can influence us. It can imitate us. It can be everything and nothing all at once.

It can be painted or drawn or sprayed or hand-made. It can be visual, vocal, or verbal. Poets, sculptors, metal-workers, mixed media folks. Everyone with a grain of creativity or simply an appreciation is welcome.

Because art is so entirely subjective, please understand that this site has been created and will continue to evolve to serve not just the community of artists but the notion of all the things that art itself can be.

That said, the content of the site will be limited to things that will hopefully incite limited controversy, if any at all, but there may be links to people with artistic pursuits that may or may not be in line with some of the rest of us.

Again, using the best of our discretion, we will attempt to fairly represent as many local artists as we can and hope that everyone can find something to appreciate in each others' vision.
